Who is PewDiePie?
Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, is one of the biggest YouTubers and online personalities. His YouTube account currently has 100 million subscribers, which is ranks second in the platform. But in terms of non-corporate accounts, his channel is currently the largest.
Felix first began his YouTube channel on April 29, 2010. He started with games that he liked, such as Minecraft and Call of Duty. This channel was initially made during his free time while splitting time with school and his Photoshop artwork hobby.
However, his channel quickly gained attention. He easily stood out because most of the content on YouTube was mostly about vloggers and sketch comedians. He started rising to fame in 2012, garnering thousands and even millions of views per video.
PewDiePie is best known for his “Let’s Play” videos. He arguably pioneered these types of gameplay commentary videos and quickly gained lots of viewers thanks to his personality. His most famous videos were on horror titles such as Amnesia and Slender.
Over the years, PewDiePie rose from a million subscribers to his current one hundred million subscriber count. But over the course of his career, his channel has evolved from being about games to being about PewDiePie. He started producing content that reflects his personality as well as content with YouTube Red.
However, like most big YouTubers, PewDiePie’s career was filled with controversy. He has made some jokes in the past that were not well accepted by the media. And as a result, the media has attacked him on several occasions especially with out of context statements. He did quickly apologize for his statements, but that did not stop the media from constantly talking about him.
But despite these controversies, PewDiePie is known to be a charitable person. He constantly makes donations to different charity organizations. These are well documented and can be read on various sources.
Today, PewDiePie’s channel remains as strong as ever. His influence is still strong in the gaming scene, and is still actively making new gaming videos today. His momentum and his popularity likely won’t stop anytime soon.
Razer currently sponsors PewDiePie. He has been spotted using their products before he was even sponsored, as seen on his early videos on YouTube. PewDiePie and Razer currently have two special edition models, the Razer Nari Ultimate and Kraken V2 PewDiePie Edition, that feature his signature colors.
PewDiePie’s Current Gaming Headset
Razer Nari Ultimate PewDiePie Edition

Pewdiepie’s current headset, as seen on his latest videos, is the Razer Nari Ultimate PewdiePie Edition. It is a modified version of the Razer Nari Ultimate that sports PewDiePie’s signature colors as well as his signature “bro-fist” logo. Aside from its aesthetics, there are no other alternations made to the headphones.
More About the Razer Nari Ultimate

The Razer Nari Ultimate is one of Razer’s premium wireless gaming headsets. It was launched in late 2018. and serves as the company’s flagship gaming headset. While it may look similar to the Razer’s previous-generation wireless gaming headsets, it has a special trick that no other gaming headset has.
In terms of the construction, the Nari Ultimate is utilizing plastic for the earcups and the frame along with metal for the headband. It feels significantly better than the gaming headsets that come at this price point. It perfectly balances the weight to avoid fatigue on your ears during longer listening sessions.
The earcups have a round shape, which may seem bad. However, the ear cushions are soft and well made, which alleviates some of the pressure on the ear. Also, there is a slot in the ear pads for the frame of glasses to slide through, so if you wear glasses/computer glasses, then the Nari Ultimate will still be comfortable to use.
Also, unlike other Razer products, the Nari Ultimate has a self-adjusting headband. This is a system that has been proven to work well with a lot of audiophile headphones such as the AKG Quincy Jones and Audio Technica ATH AD900X, so it is great to see it being implemented on gaming headsets as well.
And to complete the look of the headset, the Nari Ultimate has RGB lights on the sides of the headsets that can be configured with Razer Synapse. They are well placed and don’t look too obnoxious, unlike other over the top gaming headsets.
Of course, the main attraction here is the sound quality. The main pitch of the Nari Ultimate is it allows you to feel the game. This is done by having haptic feedback drivers. The implementation is hardware-based, so you won’t need software to use this feature. This makes the Nari Ultimate versatile as it can be used with any device.
The effect of the haptic feedback can be hit or miss. On some games where there are lots of sound effects constantly being blasted on your face, then the vibrations may overwhelm you and may even be a distraction on competitive titles such as Overwatch. On games with fewer sound effects such as CS:GO, the vibrations work better and increase the immersion.
But aside from the haptic feedback, the Nari Ultimate does not have any other special features in the sound quality. It is still not the best for any type of game, and it does not have the best sound quality for its asking price. However, in terms of the uniqueness of the headphone, Razer is right that there is currently no headphone that is like the Nari Ultimate.
If you are a big fan of PewDiePie, or if you simply like gorgeous looking gaming headsets, then the Razer Nari Ultimate/PewDiePie Edition is a great addition to your rig. But if you find this headset to be too expensive, then you may also opt for the Razer Nari Essential (wired version). However, take note that there is no wired version of the Nari Ultimate PewDiePie edition. But if you would like to explore alternatives in this price range, keep on scrolling.
Other PewDiePie Gaming Headsets
Razer Kraken V2 PewDiePie Edition

The Razer Kraken Pro V2 PewDiePie Edition is the result of PewDiePie and Razer’s collaboration. It is a modified version of the Kraken Pro V2 featuring PewDiePie’s signature colors and “bro-fist” logo. Aside from its aesthetics, there are no other alterations made to the original Kraken V2 Pro.
More About the Razer Kraken Pro V2

The Razer Kraken Pro V2 is the follow up to the original Kraken Pro, which was one of Razer’s most popular gaming headsets. It makes some changes to the aesthetics and sound quality to better compete with today’s offerings while maintaining the iconic look that has made Razer’s products iconic.
Despite its success, the original Razer Kraken had its fair share of problems. The aesthetics and the shape made it cool to look at on live streams or on E-Sports arenas. However, the design had major issues in regards to comfort. The round shape of the ear cups did not accommodate the shape of the ears well.
Your ears could easily touch the walls of the drivers, and the clamping force was tight. Thankfully, these were mostly fixed in the Kraken Pro V2. The ear cups were redesigned and look a lot closer to the Razer ManO’ War. They feature better cushioning and a more manageable clamping force.
The sound quality has also received some slight tweaks. The original Kraken Pro, along with the rest of Razer’s headsets, were quite bassy and muddy. They were not technically proficient and were not ideal for gaming or music.
The new version is still bass-heavy, but they are arguably more refined than the original. Other frequencies, such as the mids and highs, can now be heard, which is very useful for FPS games.
However, we still think the Kraken Pro V2 is a step behind its competitors at its given price point. Most gaming headsets these days are incorporating a better mic, better sound quality, a removable cable, better build quality, etc. Even Razer’s new offerings outdo the Kraken Pro V2.
If you are not planning on picking up the Razer Kraken Pro V2 PewDiePie Edition, we highly suggest looking at the alternatives below.
Alternatives to the Razer Nari Ultimate
If you are okay with not having a PewDiePie branded product, here are some great wireless alternatives.
Hyperx Cloud Flight

A great alternative to the Nari Ultimate is our top wireless pick, the Hyperx Cloud Flight Flight. It is the first wireless headset in the Cloud lineup. It may not look as pretty as the Nari Ultimate, and it might not be as feature-packed, but it is surely superior sounding to the Nari Ultimate.
The build quality is not the Cloud Flight’s strongest aspect. Despite being made mostly of the same plastic material as the Nari Ultimate, it feels more hollow and lower quality. It does not feel as solid as the rest of the headphones in the Cloud lineup. The swiveling earcups, in particular, feels like a weak point in the headset.
They might break if not treated with care or if dropped. Users who plan on taking the Cloud Flight to LAN Parties or local tournaments should be extra careful.
The upside here is that the Hyperx Cloud Flight is comfortable. It is lighter than the Nari Ultimate, and the shape of the ear cups is better suited for most ears.
In terms of its sound, the Cloud Flight is as good as the rest of the Cloud headphones. The bass is tight and well-controlled. It does not get muddy and does not bleed into the midrange. The highs are smooth without losing detail. The mids are a bit pushed back to accommodate the artificial soundstage expansion. However, they are still clear and detailed.
The soundstage is not the widest due to the closed-back design but still does a respectable job. The imaging, on the other hand, is spectacular on this pair. You can easily hear the source of footsteps on gunfire, which helps in competitive genres such as FPS.
And to add to that, the Cloud Flight’s wireless connectivity is fantastic. The connection is very stable, and there are no dropouts. Sound quality is also not sacrificed and is similar to the wired mode. But you have to take note that it only connects via the USB dongle.
In terms of battery life, the Cloud Flightwill last you for up to 30 hours of use when the lights are turned off. This is more than enough for most gaming sessions. You cannot use the headset while charging, but you have plenty of time to charge it while not in use.
One thing to note is that there is no battery indicator. The Cloud Flight will only start beeping once the battery is below 20%. This is pretty inconvenient since the battery indicator status could have been easily integrated somewhere else in the headset, such as in the lights.
Overall, if you prefer sound quality and wireless stability over aesthetics, then the Hyperx Cloud Flight is a great alternative to the Razer Nari Ultimate.
Corsair HS70

Another great alternative to the Nari Ultimate is the Corsair HS70. It is the wireless version of the Corsair HS50, which has been widely successful in the gaming community.
In terms of aesthetics, the HS70 mostly retains the design elements of the HS50. There is still minimal branding apart from the updated Corsair logo on the earcups and on the headband. Additionally, the HS70 now also comes in a white variant that should perfectly complement users with a white themed setup.
In terms of the build quality, the HS50 Pro is mostly made of plastic. It feels a lot sturdier compared to competing models such as the Hyperx Cloud Flight. The headband is made of aluminum, which makes it very unlikely for the headband to snap.
The HS70 looks quite bland when sitting next to the Nari Ultimate. It does not have RGB or any of Razer’s over the top design elements. But just like the Hyperx Cloud Flight, the HS70 isn’t just about the looks. It is all about the wireless functionality and the sound quality.
Corsair did not just slap in a wireless module to the HS50 and called it a day. They made the appropriate adjustments, such as the addition of sound cues whenever the mic is muted or whenever the headset is being powered on and off. Buttons are also well placed and are easy to reach on the ear cups.
The wireless functionality is also well optimized for the HS70. Wireless connectivity is stable and has a good range. You can stand up and move around your house without encountering any dropouts.
And of course, the main highlight of the Corsair HS70 is the sound quality. Unlike the Razer Nari Ultimate, the HS70 has a cleaner and more balanced sound signature that is similar to studio monitoring headphones.
Highs are well controlled and allow the easy detection of sound cues such as gunfire and footsteps. Lows have a punchy and accurate sound that does not bleed into the midrange. Mids are well defined and help create a wide soundstage illusion.
Another great aspect of its sound is its wide soundstage. It isn’t as wide as open-back headphones, but it is wider than closed-back headphones such as the Nari Ultimate. Large areas sound realistic, which makes gaming even more immersive. It also helps with tracking your enemies in competitive titles.
And to add to its already great sound, Corsair has added a virtual surround sound option that can be accessed via the software. It isn’t over the top and does not destroy the already great sound signature of the HS70. However, it still doesn’t suit some games, so you will have to do some trial and error.
Overall, if you prefer a great sounding and feature-packed alternative to the Razer Nari Ultimate, then the Corsair HS70 is a great choice.
Alternatives to the Razer Kraken V2
Razer Blackshark V2/V2 X

The Razer BlackShark V2 X is the sequel to the BlackShark that was released back in 2013.
The BlackShark V2 comes in two different models, the V2 and V2 X. The main difference between the two is the aesthetics and the included dongle on the V2. The V2 X (the cheaper model) has a matte black color scheme and a cleaner look. The cables are still green, but the Razer logo on the ear cups are hidden.
Both models have a well-padded headband. However, the V2 has more stitching and has an overall fancier look. The earpads are also different. The V2 has a more breathable and velour like material while the V2 X has a more standard pleather ear pad.
Just like the original BlackShark, the design of both models is heavily inspired by aviation headsets. There are less exposed wires on the newer models, which ensure the safety and durability of the cables and give the design a cleaner look. However, some may prefer the over the top look of the original.
The biggest improvement of the BlackShark V2 and V2 X over the original BlackShark and the Kraken V2 is the sound quality. Razer has been doing their homework and has been listening to community feedback. That is widely the reason why their recent peripherals such as the Razer Huntsman Mini and Razer Viper Mini have been massively successful.
The same is happening here with their new headsets. Thanks to community feedback and proper research, Razer has managed to create a proper sounding gaming headset. Unlike the older Razer gaming headsets that were bassy and muddy sounding, the new BlackShark headsets are balanced sounding and are highly competitive with newer offerings such as the Logitech G Pro X.
As mentioned earlier, the BlackShark V2 comes with a USB dongle that enables surround sound. This may sound bad since Razer’s previous 7.1 offerings were not that great. However, Razer has surprisingly managed to pull this off.
One of the main highlights of this dongle is the built-in THX spatial audio feature. What this feature does is it artificially expands the soundstage to simulate the effect of open-back headphones. While it is not perfect, it is a lot better than the usual virtual 7.1 surround sound that comes with most gaming headsets (even Razer’s older gaming headsets). And the most important thing is that it does not detract from the experience and does not add any unwanted artifacts in the sound.
As mentioned earlier, if you do not plan on picking up the Kraken V2 PewDiePie Edition but still want to stick with Razer, then this is your best bet. Both models have superior build quality and sound quality. And even if the V2 X is slightly more expensive than the Kraken V2 Pro, it arguably brings on more value for the consumer.
There is currently no news on whether or not there will be a special edition of the new BlackShark headphones. But we hope this is on their list because this is one of the best sounding headsets in their current lineup.
Hyperx Cloud Alpha

If you want to try out other brands, then a great alternative to the Razer Kraken Pro V2 is the Hyperx Cloud Alpha. The Cloud series is instantly recognizable due to its massive success in the gaming scene. This is thanks to its great design, build quality, and sound quality.
The Hyperx Cloud Alpha is currently the entry-level model of the Cloud series. It does not come with extra accessories or sound cards. But that doesn’t matter because the Cloud Alpha is already a great sounding pair without the help of software.
That is mostly because the Hypxer Cloud headphones are on the Takstar Pro 80, a professional studio monitoring headphone. And what that means is that the Cloud Alpha is already optimized for producing realistic and detailed results.
Both the mids and highs are clear and detailed. The highs, in particular, allow easy detection of footsteps in FPS titles. However, due to their closed-back design, they don’t have a very wide soundstage.
This means that the Clouds are less immersive than other gaming headsets such as the GSP 300. But despite its soundstage, the imaging is still solid. You will not have a problem with detecting enemies in more competitive titles.
The Kraken Pro V2 may have thundering bass and a fun sound signature, but if you truly want to get the unfair advantage in your games, then the Cloud Alpha is the better sounding headphone.
Aside from its sound quality, the design and form factor is another strong aspect of the Cloud Alpha. Unlike most of its competitors, the Cloud Alpha does not have that “gamer look.” It has a clean design that is reminiscent of other professional headphones such as the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro. And since it has a detachable microphone, you won’t look out of place when you use these headphones outside.
If you are looking for a great value gaming headset, then the Hyperx Cloud Alpha ticks all of the boxes.
Sennheiser GSP 300

If you are looking for the best sounding alternative to the Kraken Pro V2, then you can’t go wrong with the Sennheiser GSP 300. After all, it is coming from a legendary brand in the audio industry.
The Sennheiser GSP 300 is Sennheiser’s answer to the likes of the Hyperx Cloud and Logitech G Pro, and Razer Kraken Pro V2. And unlike its past gaming headsets such as the Sennheiser Game Zero, the GSP 300 has a more aggressive gamer look. And at first glance, it does not even resemble any of Sennheiser’s products.
However, Sennheiser’s attempt at the gamer aesthetic is arguably not as sleek as the Razer Kraken Pro V2, Razer BlackShark, or Razer Nari Ultimate. But despite the odd design choices, the GSP300 is actually one of the most comfortable gaming headsets in the market. This shouldn’t be a surprise, however, since Sennheiser has lots of experience in making headphones.
But the looks aren’t the main attraction here. The reason why the GSP 300 is so popular in the gaming community is because of its sound quality.
The GSP 300 has a V-shaped signature. The bass is a bit boosted but does not overpower the midrange. The midrange is a bit recessed but is still fairly detailed. The highs are also boosted but are well controlled and do not present much harshness.
Overall, the sound is more balanced compared to the Razer Kraken Pro V2. The bass is not overexaggerated and bloated. The mids and highs are also clearer and cleaner.
This sound signature works well with most games. It offers enough immersion for open-world single-player titles but also gives a competitive edge in titles such as CS: GO and Valorant. For FPS titles, the clarity and detail in the highs allow you to hear footsteps easier.
And, unlike other closed-back gaming headsets, the GSP300 has a wide soundstage and excellent imaging. It is still inferior to open-back headphones but is arguably a step in the right direction. The soundstage may sound artificial at times, but it does its job and helps both with immersion and in locating enemies.
And aside from the sound quality, the GSP 300 also has an excellent microphone. It is clearer and more natural-sounding than the rest of its competition. It will work well regardless if you are live streaming, playing competitive matches, or just casually talking to your teammates/friends.
And as a bonus, it has an integrated mic mute function. Just push the microphone arm upwards, and the microphone automatically mutes.
Overall, if you are willing to sacrifice the design elements found on Razer’s headphones in exchange for sound quality, then you will not be disappointed with the Sennheiser GSP 300. It has everything that you will ever need to perform at your best.
